Last weekend, the final round of the IAME Wera Tools British Kart Championship arrived at Three Sisters Racetrack in Wigan, the North West’s “premier outdoor circuit”
Going into the weekend, Will was firmly placed ahead of the pack as the championship leader, nonetheless there was work to be done to secure the win.
Will set to work securing a spot on the first row of the grid in Heat 3,with the exception of a poor start, slipping into p4, Will executed a precise drive moving into 2nd early in the race after a close battle between the leading four drivers. Maintaining a steady pace ahead of a competitive field he moved to 1st place after taking advantage of a poor line by the leader Gibson 4mins 30secs into the action. As the track action continued, Will remained consistent to maintain his 1st position at the chequered flag.
In Heat 4, Will again started on the 1st row of the grid with the knowledge that if he held that position he would be champion pushing into 1st place by the end of lap 1, his championship rival Finlay Lines slipped to 14th place, effectively securing the championship for Will. All Will had to do was finish 6th or higher to win the championship. Will continued to pull away from the pack eventually and as the chequered flag dropped, Will crossed the line inP1, 1.77 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. With the trophy his, he was now 24 points clear and the championship title was his.
In the Final, Will secured pole position, however a start was not needed, despite Will wanting to race, his team decided it wasn't necessary, leaving the field to fight it out for the other championship podium places.
Across the entire Championship, Will has dominated the with a mature and level headed approach to his racing despite all pressure put on him from his high-performing competitors.
