Logan Sargeant to drive for Williams Racing in 2023 Formula 1 Season

Infinity Sports Management are delighted to announce that Logan Sargeant will be racing for Williams Racing in the 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship, becoming the first American to compete in Formula 1 since 2015.

This step up to the pinnacle of motorsport sees the realisation of a childhood dream and culmination of years of hard work by the 21-year-old American driver, who has been part of the Infinity Sports Management stable since 2012.

Confirming his place on the Formula 1 grid comes after securing sufficient points following the final Formula 2 race in Abu Dhabi to qualify for a Super Licence. Further to this Logan was crowned rookie of the year after finishing his Formula 2 season fourth in the championship with 148 points, taking two Feature race wins and two podiums in the process.

Once he began racing at the age of eight, Logan took the karting world by storm. With over twelve titles, across nine categories, he became one of the most-awarded American Karters in history. Across his single-seater career, Logan has taken victory in almost every racing series he has competed in so far and has continually been fighting at the forefront of each championship.

His tenacious spirit and undeniable talent first saw him welcomed to Williams Academy in 2021, where has worked closely with the team throughout the year to help build the car development both in the simulator and on-track. Having impressed during his first appearance in a Formula 1 session, where the Williams Academy Driver took to the wheel of the Williams Racing FW44 during the first Free Practice session at the US Grand Prix earlier this year. He made further Free Practice appearances at Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi respectively.

Logan Sargeant completes the Williams Racing line-up for the 2023 season alongside Alex Albon.

“It’s a huge honour and a dream come true to be given this opportunity to compete in Formula 1 with Williams Racing. A massive thank you to every person at Williams Racing and Dorilton Motor Sports for the support they’ve given me since the day I first joined the team at the 2021 United States Grand Prix.

Being a part of the Williams Driver Academy for the past year has given me an important platform to develop as a driver and prepare me for this next chapter. I’m ready and excited to be a part of this journey as the team looks to progress up the grid.”

– Logan Sargeant

“We are immensely proud to see Logan make the step into F1. We have looked after Logan for nearly ten years and we have enjoyed some very special moments on his journey.

When he made the move to Europe from America he was just a young boy with a dream of making it to F1 and now he has reached that part of his career.

There are far too many to name, but we are extremely grateful to all the teams and people who have helped him along the way and especially Williams who have given him this opportunity to drive for them in Formula 1.“

– Gary Catt, Logan’s Manager and Director of Infinity Sports Management

“I am delighted that Logan has been given this opportunity by Williams, he has worked so hard to get to this point and we are extremely proud to have been part of this incredible journey the past ten years. To have two drivers on the F1 grid next year is also a very proud moment for Infinity.”

Harry Soden, Director of Infinity Sports Management

“We’re delighted to officially announce Logan as our driver for next year after qualifying for a super licence following the final F2 event of the season in Abu Dhabi. Logan completes our exciting driver line-up for 2023 alongside Alex.

Since joining our Driver Academy at the end of 2021, Logan has been able to fully integrate with the team at Grove while on the simulator and more recently at track during the four Free Practice sessions he’s participated in.

He’s had a strong rookie season in Formula 2, and we are excited to watch him make the step up in Formula 1. We are here to support that journey with him.”
